2018 Vanguard Prize Recipient: Janel Esker

The National Network of Law School Officers (NNLSO) is pleased to recognize Janel Esker as the recipient of the 2018 Vanguard Prize.  Janel is the Registrar at Saint Louis University School of Law.

Janel Esker has served at the Saint Louis University School of Law since 2010, after having worked at another institution as the registrar.   Her experience and dedication to the law school community is evident to those she serves and is to be commended.  Her recommender lauded her for the perspective she brings to her work, which benefits faculty and staff colleagues as well as students.  Since joining SLU, Janel has consistently taken on greater responsibility in the areas of course schedule development, registration, exam administration, records and reporting.  She consistently uses innovative methods to serve students and streamline processes to create efficiencies.   Her efforts and demeanor create a positive feeling around the law school.    Janel serves as an example to those in the NNLSO community for her work ethic, professionalism, courtesy, creativity and use of technology.   NNLSO is honored to recognize Janel for her outstanding service to the SLU School of Law.

The Vanguard Prize recognizes an individual for outstanding professional achievement in support of student services.  Nominations are solicited from law schools across the nation in search of a member who is transforming academic services through innovative service, outstanding leadership, and effective administration.   The NNLSO board choses the winner and the prize carries an award of $500 earmarked for professional development for the recipient’s office.
