A special charge was made to area reps to stay in contact with their area schools and especially to welcome newly-approved ABA schools. There was much discussion concerning the area divisions (should we use the ABA or LSAC divisions) and area representatives (length of appointment and specific assignments). A committee was formed to look at these issues and submit a report at the fall planning meeting.
The Board approved a motion that at the discretion of the Executive Committee, funds not exceeding $500/year may be spent for donations (flowers, cards, etc.) in commemoration of significant events in the lives of NNLSO members. This will be a line item for the NNLSO budget in the future.
The fall issue of The Journal will contain a Dean's Corner article by Dean Sam Davis of The University of Mississippi School of Law, an article by Pat Trainor about NNLSO's research grant opportunities and an article by the Executive Director introducing the new area representatives. The Board emphasized that we want to use The Journal and the Web Site to reinforce each other. It was also suggested that anyone who submits a question of general interest on the Web should collect the answers and send a capsule of the information to the Web Site for posting.
The Records Retention Committee is working on an on-line survey which will be ready by the next board meeting.
It was the consensus of the Board that we should print generic letterhead stationary for the organization (without names of officers, etc.) as that will be more economical.
The NNLSO fall planning meeting will be held October 27 in Chicago.
