Benefits of Membership

Annual Conference

Each year, during the annual conference of AACRAO, NNLSO sponsors an independent conference that includes panels, topical sessions with presentations of interest to law school officers, and workshops designed for professional development. Previous agendas have included topics on FERPA, identifying forged records, state bar certification, admissions concerns, affirmative action, records retention, document imaging, and current trends that affect law schools.

During the conference, NNLSO conducts its annual business meeting and luncheon. NNLSO also organizes a number of social functions at the conference as well as at local sites.

The AACRAO conference is held in a different state each year, providing NNLSO members an opportunity to attend both conferences and to visit neighboring law schools.

Membership Directory & NNLSO Electronic Discussion List

To further the growth of NNLSO and to foster networking and information sharing, a website and electronic discussion list are available.

The NNLSO website is http://nnlso.org. Paid members of NNLSO may obtain the password to restricted areas of the website by contacting the Secretary/Treasurer.

The NNLSO electronic discussion lists are hosted by the Washburn University School of Law.

The Journal

The NNLSO Journal is issued twice each year, in the fall and in the spring.

Issues frequently include surveys that seek members' replies concerning salaries, job descriptions, educational qualifications, school policies on late grades, make-up examinations, bar certification, registration processing, computerized services, and other topics of interest to law school officers. These issues also provide information on the annual conference, membership information, and the election of officers.

Research Grant Program

The NNLSO Research Grant Program provides funds to members of the organization to assist NNLSO and the law school community in gaining needed quantifiable information that can be used to inform those who make significant decisions regarding legal education.

Research grants are intended to help recipients cover the direct costs of research projects, including temporary assistance, printing, postage, mainframe computer time and preparation of papers and reports. Grants are not intended to provide a salary or stipend for the grant recipient. Grants will range from $250 - $1,000.
