I hope your summer has gone well. Summer for me has become such a busy season at work. How about you? I would love to hear your observations about how your job is evolving as our workplaces and priorities change. We definitely work in a changing profession.
The NNLSO membership drive for this year is open now. If you are the person who generally renews the membership at your institution, you may have noticed that you have not received an invoice in the mail. Our process has changed! You can update your institutional membership online. It only costs $100.00 per school, and you can have as many individual members within your institution as want to be members. NNLSO membership really is quite a bargain!
Since we are conducting the membership campaign in the summer, your membership is now tied more directly to the academic year. The board believed it would be easier to process the membership drive in the summer, when many of us may not have as many students to serve, or less may be happening in our law schools. Because the membership year now coincides with the academic year, the new membership year now begins in August.
Only one member at each institution must submit an application and pay the membership fee. After completion of the online membership application, the person completing the application will receive an email from NNLSO confirming the membership update, and providing a link to set up the membership resources. We ask that you share that link with others at your institution who want to be members. Each person can take the link to complete their membership status, sign up for the listserv, and to be added to the message board (coming soon). Most of us will pay our dues online, but you do have the option of sending a check to pay your dues. To do so, just follow the instructions provided on the membership application with regard to where to send the check. Many of our institutions have now made it easy for us to pay with a purchasing card, so paying online is simple and easy.
I hope you will renew your membership today. NNLSO is a great organization of dedicated professionals who share, collectively, a great wealth of information. I am proud to be a member of this organization, and I cannot tell you the innumerable times over the years that a NNLSO colleague has provided me with some piece of information that solved a problem for me. Many times I have received moral support from colleagues as well! I’m happy that I chose to join NNLSO all those years ago when a colleague recommended it to me.
Thank you for your patience as we work to improve our processes and rely on technology to facilitate them as much as possible. The board looks forward to serving you in the coming year.
